No Questions

The title may sound a bit harsh, but the "no questions" principle ensures more independence and productivity. I also pass this on to my employees. Instead of simply asking a question when you are stuck, you proceed as follows:

  1. What is the problem? What don't I understand?

  2. What would be 2-3 solutions to the problem?

  3. Which solution is preferred and why?

This stimulates your own thinking and in many cases prevents the question itself. Of course, this does not mean that no questions are allowed at all. If more information or material is needed for a task, or a second opinion is needed (example: I prefer version 1, for such and such reasons. What do you think?), questions are of course allowed. Likewise, if support is needed. The principle of not asking questions aims to avoid unnecessary questions. This has worked very well for me.
